Bienvenidos. Welcome to Gardening in West Texas Where rainfall averages are typically below 14 inches and temperature extremes can range from 24 degrees to more than 105.

Now that Fall, has finally arrived and cooler weather will soon prevail, we'll be harvesting the last of the tomatoes and peppers.  Yes, that's all that was planted in the garden this year and those were planted late, yet they have been abundantly more successful than spring and summer plantings of previous years.  West Texas Temperatures strike above the century mark far too many days to appreciate a bountiful tomato crop.  On the other hand, I've never tried early maturing determinate varieties.  It's a little hard to get motivated about tending a garden full of tomatoes designed to fizzle out in less than two months.
